VARIANT REFREGIRANT FLOW (VRF)
VRFs use refrigerant as the cooling and heating medium. This refrigerant is conditioned by a single outdoor condensing unit, and is circulated within the building to multiple fan-coil units.
VRFs are typically installed with an air conditioner inverter which adds a DC inverter to the compressor in order to support variable motor speed and thus variable refrigerant flow rather than simply on/off operation.

DIRECT EXPANSION (DX)
A direct expansion air conditioning unit, also called a DX unit, cools indoor air using a condensed refrigerant liquid. The unit cools air by passing the condensed refrigerant through a heat exchanger inside the building to be cooled. In this part of the unit, called the evaporator, the refrigerant expands as it absorbs heat, eventually converting to a gas.
The unit then pumps the refrigerant to a compressor, which compresses the gas and passes it through another heat exchanger, the condenser, outside the building. The heat that has been absorbed by the refrigerant is released to the outdoor air, and the cooled, compressed refrigerant is once again in liquid form. The unit pumps the cooled refrigerant liquid back to the evaporator and the cycle begins again.

WATER CHILLERS
A water chiller is an air conditioner used to facilitate heat exchange from water to a refrigerant in a closed loop system. The refrigerant is then pumped to a location where the waste heat is transferred to the atmosphere.

REFRIGERATION ROOMS
Rooms that are used as fridges or cold storage areas consist of two units similar to the air conditioner, the condenser and the evaporator. They work together to drop the temperature very low in the room for storage, i.e. food.
They vary in the powers and sizes to suit the refrigerated space and the target temperature.
